University of California at Davis Masters in Business Analytics

University of California at Davis

The University of California at Davis Masters in Business Analytics program is another new program that I have come across that I thought all of you might find interesting. I realize that business analytics is neither finance nor management, but the program offers a number of attributes that will interest my readers, including being in California (which doesn’t have many specialized masters options) as well as being a STEM program, something that I get asked about all the time.

The program is 10-months long and located in the San Francisco Bay area. The program is currently recruiting for its inaugural program starting fall 2017. Classes will be held on Friday and Saturday, allowing working professionals to maintain their career while building their educational background. The program is expected to cost around $55,000.

Practicum

This is interesting and pretty unique, even among other business analytics programs I have looked at. You join a 5 person team when the program begins and work on a business analytics project for a corporate client. This allows you to incorporate what you are learning into a real world environment and also build your resume as you work on this project. I think this will be helpful, especially for international students, who are looking to change careers/find a job.

Application

Pretty standard here. They are looking for GMAT/GRE, Undergraduate transcripts, personal essays and two recommendations. Prior coursework in computing, mathematics and statistics is also required.

March 1st is the Round 3 application deadline. May 17th is the 4th round deadline. Plenty of time to apply for anyone interested.

I will reach out to admissions to try and find out more about the program. Hope this helps.
