It has been a while since I last posted about the University of Rochester MSF program and their placements. The program has done a good job of reporting where students have ended up and because of the international reputation of the program, it is one of the more popular programs I am asked about. The university has put out reports for the last two years and I wanted to let all of you know the continued success of the program. Enjoy!
2016 MSF Career Placements
- 85% of the graduating class seeking employment accepted a position within 3 months of graduating
- $59,000 is the average total compensation for finance graduates
- ~60% of graduates accepted jobs in the north east
Below is a list of firms hiring Rochester graduates:
- Bank of the West
- BDO USA, LLP
- CITIC Securities
- China Merchants
- Credit Suisse
- CTBC Bank
- Deutsche Bank
- Duff & Phelps
- Ernst & Young LLP
- JPMorgan Chase & Co
- Lincoln Financial
- Loop Capital
- Marcus & Millichap
- Morgan Stanley Huaxin Securities
- Opus Bank
- Siemens Management Consulting
- The Walt Disney Company
- UnitedHealth Group
- Wilmington Trust
As you can see the program places into some well known firms, both in the US and overseas. The MSF program places predominately into finance roles (obviously), but also has significant consulting placements and a few other industries.
The University of Rochester benefits from the fact that it has been operating their Masters in Finance program for a long time now (including having a NYC based program for a number of years) and the number of alumni working in industry has grown substantially over the years. The class size is large (~180 students), but opportunities can come from attending.
You can read the report in entirely here.
I will try and find an updated student review to complement this placement report. I would also imagine the 2017 placement report should be coming out within the next handful of months. Once this comes out I will make sure to post about it.
