Vanderbilt MSF Logo

I have a few things to update everyone on the Vanderbilt University MSF program that were just sent to me. I think it should be very helpful for those admitted to the program and looking to make the most of your time at Vanderbilt or for those of you who are looking to apply (do so soon! more on that later). Enjoy the information below, I hope it helps.

Why Campus Visits are Crucial to Deciding on the Right MSF Program for You

Vanderbilt University does a great job in authoring and posting articles that talk about what students should do if they want to get admitted to various programs. This article discusses the importance of on campus visits for admissions to the MSF program specifically. As someone who has been on Vanderbilt’s campus, I can attest to how important it is to truly experience the school. The culture, traditions and energy you find when visiting Vanderbilt is pretty special and something you will want to talk about in your essays and your interview. Honestly, visiting campus is probably one of the most important things you can do to make sure the school and program are what you really want to do.

How I got the job

The Vanderbilt University MSF program has put together a number of articles from alumni who discuss how they went about securing full time employment from the MSF program. You can here straight from the horses mouth that various paths students have taken. Some key takeaways are listed below. Anyone who has read my posts or spoken with me will undoubtably see similarities.

  • Networking!
  • Leveraging previous experience and/or internships
  • Pre-3 Online Program (more on this later)
  • NYC MSF Trip
  • Utilize career services to clarify and aid in finding full time employment

You can read each students story directly here:

Vanderbilt University offers admitted MSF students access to the Pre-3 online program designed to walk students through what their resume should look like, what to prepare for during the program, networking, and other core job finding skill. This roles into more formal, in person training and help with students once school starts. The key in my mind is every student coming to Nashville understanding what they need to do. I think this Pre-3 program is pretty amazing and something all programs should implement.

Admissions Deadline

Everyone considering applying to this program should realize the final official application round is coming up fast. After that, applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. That being said, I would strong encourage all of you interested in applying to do so by the deadline.

  • Round 4 Deadline – May 9th, 2019 *

*Limited to U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents or International students with a 4-year U.S. undergraduate degree.

More to follow in the next couple of weeks. This program is highly competitive so I hope this info helps and please keep in mind that time for this year is running short.
