The Southern Methodist University Master in Finance program just recently came to my attention. Located in Dallas, Texas, SMU is ideally located in one of the fastest growing metro area. Anyone interested in working in Texas (Dallas in particular) should look at this school and program.
Their local competition is the University of Texas – Dallas MSF program so make sure you consider that option as well.
SMU’s master in finance is a one year, 30 credit hour, lock step program offering classes in modeling, financial analysis, value creation, hedge funds as well as a variety of other subjects. The courses are similar to most other master in finance program which will provide you with a well rounded, graduate level education in finance.
The program costs $40,216 which is about what most MSF programs cost. Placement information is not available online, but I attribute this to the fact that the program is relatively new. As it becomes more popular placement statistics will be made available.
