The University of Texas at San Antonio has recently come to my attention as another newish program out there. This is always great news as it gives students additional choice, especially in Texas, an area that many students are looking to stay in or break into. San Antonio is a pretty hot metro and being able to go to school there will be of interest of many people.
The program offers three options for completion: 12 month, 18 month or 24 months. This is great for students who just graduated and want to complete the program in a year or for working professionals who want to take longer because of their schedule.
Curriculum
Students take a lock step curriculum. For those looking to complete the program in one year, your schedule would look like the below:
Fall
- Financial Statement Analysis
- Economics and Statistics
- Financial Institutions
- Computer Modeling
Spring
- Financial Management
- Investments & Portfolio Theory
- Derivatives & Risk Management
- International Finance/Fixed Income
Summer
- Managerial Financial Accounting
- Corporate Valuation
- Corporate Restructuring
- Special Topics
The program offers teaching assistantships and research assistantships for qualified students. Additionally, out-of-state and international students may be eligible to pay in-state tuition rates if awarded a competitive scholarship or are hired in a qualifying Teaching or Research Assistantship position. This is huge benefit since it can save a significant amount of money for non-Texas state residents.

- % Female – 30%
- Average GPA – 3.24
Careers
This information is still limited and growing, but it is nice that they provide a section where they list employers of recent graduates. Gives you an idea of who is coming on campus and who is hiring people who graduate from the program. Also lets you know where you should start your networking journey.
