Iowa State University Masters in Finance

The Iowa State University Masters in Finance program is the newest addition to the specialized masters universe. It is always great to see another, new program start up and it helps to have more programs in the midwest. This program looks to be pretty new, but I will reach out and see if I can find out anything else about it for anyone interested.

The program is 40 credit hours and can be completed within 3 semesters. What is unique about the Iowa State MSF program is the ability to earn dual degrees. Students can receive their MSF along with their Masters in Economics as well as their MBA. Great options for local students looking to kill two birds with one stone. Students can also specialize their masters degree as only 22 credit hours are required. This leaves 18 credit hours where students can choose classes such as Agricultural Finance, Industrial Organization, Fraud Examination and Prevention, and Computer Processing of Statistical Data.

The program champions their placements for their MBA program and I will imagine they will focus the same on the MSF. Per their career services website, 94% of their MBA class received offers within 3 months of graduation. That is a pretty promising statistic. Obviously, the MSF is a different animal, but the school seems to focus on getting their students positions upon graduation. A positive indication.

Something else I found that I really like is that the program spoke with local professionals when designing the MSF degree. Shows to me that the school really cares about creating a program that teaches its students what employers are looking for. You can read about the testimonials here.
