Georgetown University MSF Program Update – January 2021

A lot going on with the Georgetown University MSF program right now. I wanted to kick the year off right with an update on everything new with the program as well as letting all of you know about upcoming information sessions. Georgetown continues to build on their success with this amazing MSF and I am sure 2021 will be a great year for this degree.

Admissions Deadline

The first two rounds have already gone by, but there are three more to go. I’d encourage all of you to apply as soon as you can. With so much uncertainty in the world right now, waiting until the last minute could hurt you.

  • Round 3 – Apply by 2/5/2021 / Decision by 3/5/2021
  • Round 4 – Apply by 3/19/2021 / Decision by 4/16/2021
  • Round 5 – Apply by 6/4/2021 / Decision by 6/30/2021

As you can see, plenty of time still left to get your application and recommendations in order. Below are the GMAT and GPA averages and ranges to give you an idea of your relative competitiveness. Don’t be discouraged though, admissions considers your entire package and not just these scores.

  • GMAT Average – 689
    • GMAT 20-80% Range – 660 – 710
  • GPA Average – 3.2
    • GPA 20-80% Range – 2.9 – 3.6

Increased Diversity and Class Size

I posted a little while back about the most recent class profile which was phenomenal. I want to bring to everyones attention a couple of other things that I believe really highlight both the strength of the program as well as Georgetown’s mission to have its program reflect the diverse nature of this country within the university.

The current class is the largest in program history with 164 enrolled students. This class is not only the biggest, but also continues to be incredibly diverse.

  • 30% of the incoming class is made up of under-represented minorities
  • 23% of the incoming class are female students

It is great to see this long overdue diversity. Years ago when I was working towards my MSF, female students were a rarity. Over the years I have seen them slowly increase and I hope this trend continues as more women enter the business world. Same can be said for diversity, which sadly was rather rare a decade ago in these programs. Not anymore! Kudos to Georgetown for continuing to push these efforts.

Information Session

The next information session is coming up on February 22, 2021. It is at 7:00PM ET and hosted by Professor Allan Eberhart, Senior Associate Dean at Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. This is a great opportunity to ask your question directly to the person who founded the Georgetown University MSF program. I’ve had the chance to meet Prof. Eberhart and he is amazing to speak with and someone who truly understands this program. I also think it is important for prospective applicants to show interest and engagement in the program. This is a great way to do that. Below is a link to the sign up page. I hope you can attend!

MSF Information Session

Hope you all find this update helpful. Much more to come regarding this great program. One thing I really appreciate about the Georgetown MSF is that they work very hard to provide a lot of updated and relevant material on the program. This is so helpful as the more information the better. Check back soon!
