Georgetown University MSF Summer Clinic

The Georgetown University MSF Summer Clinic is one of the many innovative aspects of a program that has been at the forefront of combining technology and career relevant elements into a world class specialized master’s program. From offering a truly unique and interactive online teaching experience to students, a team building international experience, and a career enhancing Summer Clinic, Georgetown has worked hard to create a master’s in finance degree that is both educational and relevant for students seeking to enhance both their education and careers.

Of all the articles I have posted on here about the program, the Summer Clinic is something I have wanted to write about for a while but haven’t had the chance. The University just recently sat down with Thomas Stowell, Associate Dean for MSF Career Management and Strategic Initiatives, and did a Q&A that on the clinic and I thought now would be a perfect time. Q&A with Georgetown University: The Georgetown MSF Summer Clinics Experience

The interview with Mr. Stowell talks about the origins and development of the clinic along with who it is ideal for it and how to decide which one to pick. Very helpful for all of you thinking about applying or those who have been accepted and now much plan out how to maximize their time in the program.

The clinic is 8-weeks long and is a good way for students to gain internship like experience. Anyone looking to change careers or simply to enhance their skill set within their current job will gain value from this. The clinics are customizable as well.

From the school’s website:

“Our students are increasingly interested in gaining new experiences that can help facilitate a “career pivot.” That is why we developed the Georgetown MSF Summer Clinics for students to engage in challenging, in-depth, fast-paced projects with corporate clients in the areas of investing, consulting, and FinTech.

Students are paired together in small teams to work on complex projects for corporate partners that culminate with an in-person presentation to senior industry leaders. The MSF Summer Clinics offer an excellent opportunity for you to test-drive a career field, develop or expand existing skills, interact with executives and thought leaders in different career areas, and gain valuable experience to discuss in an interview.”
