The University of California Irvine Master of Finance program has some great updates that I want to bring to everyones attention. California has a number of great MSF options and the state continues to be incredibly popular with students. Check out the update below.
2023 Class Profile
Below is the 2023 class profile, a helpful gauge to see how competitive your profile it.
- Class Size – 117 Students
- Average GPA – 3.50
- Average Work Experience – 2.42 years
- International – 71%
- Women – 49%
This program pulls students from all over the world (Canada, China, Great Britain, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, UAE) and the majority of students come from institutions outside of UC Irvine. This looks to be a program with individuals who have some decent work experience as well (as indicated by the average work experience and age range – 22 thru 50).
Placement Information
The UCI MSF program has an 83% employment rate at 6 months with a median base salary of $65,000. The top salary was $150,000 so keep in mind that outcomes from the program will depend somewhere on experience you bring to the program.
The majority of students found employment on the West Coast (makes sense), but there we individuals taking jobs throughout the US and internationally as well. Below is a list of hiring firms:
Admissions
The application package is standard (essays, resume, recommendations, etc.) and the GMAT/GRE is optional. For students with a GPA below a 3.3 it is highly encouraged though. I would take this into consideration depending on work experience and other attributes.
Below are the upcoming application deadlines:
Round 3: February 1 |
Round 4: April 1* (Final deadline for international applicants) |
Round 5: May 1 |
Round 6: June 1 (Recommended final deadline for domestic students) |
Round 7: July 1 |
Tuition (as of August 2024) is $74,780. There are a number of scholarship opportunities and the website mentions that over 85% of students receive some form of scholarship assistance. Make sure to inquire about this, but it looks like most students can expect some form of discount on their tuition.
