University of Michigan Master of Management Program Update – June 2021

The University of Michigan Master in Management is one of the most popular specialized masters degrees in the country and it is the top ranked US MiM degree for 2020. I wanted to go back and write a refreshed overview of the program since it has been so long since I last touched this university. As always, I will try and get additional information, especially a student review as I do not have one for this masters in management program.

2020 Class Profile

This program provides a TON of data. Absolutely love it. I will include as much as I can, but definitely check out the university website as this masters in management program does not shy away from information about the program.

  • Class Size – 123 Students
  • Male / Female – 41% / 59% (this is a first)
  • Average GPA – 3.5
  • Average GMAT – 615
  • GMAT Middle 80% – 531 – 698

Admissions

Note – the application window for this years class has passed. November 1st is when the next years application cycle generally begins. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis as well so get ready early!

  • This program is designed for non-business undergraduates. If you are receiving a business major undergraduate degree, this program isn’t for you

The application requirements are pretty standard. Transcripts, GMAT/GRE (currently suspended because of COVID-19, but I would imagine this will be reinstated), 2 recommendations and if selected, an interview.

The school provides the following guidance on what you need to stand out:

You Know How to Make an Impact

  • Your professional achievements, extracurricular involvements, recommendation letter, and personal essays highlight how you’ve made meaningful contributions that drive results.
You Know Why You Want a Ross MM
  • You’re someone with a precise “why” behind the “what.” Your personal essays outline clear goals for your MM, and explain why Ross is the right program for you.
You’ve Got the Score
  • Your undergraduate record, GMAT and/or GRE score(s), and TOEFL help show us:
    • Your ability to succeed academically
    • The degree to which you have challenged yourself
    • Your quantitative background — college-level math should not be a problem for you
    • Your English-language ability

This is very helpful guidance and should be heeded by anyone considering applying.

Tuition for the 2021 academic year is listed below:

MICHIGAN RESIDENTS NON-MICHIGAN RESIDENTS
MM Tuition for Incoming Cohort Summer 2021 (Academic Year) $48,908 $53,908
There are a number of scholarships available as well to help reduce the cost of attendance.
