I have another quick update on the Vanderbilt University MSF program that I think you all will enjoy. The school is making some huge expansions that attest to the growth plans and success of the university as a whole. I also have a number of student success stories to share with everyone.
West Palm Beach Campus
In an absolutely huge and exciting move, Vanderbilt is expanding their business school to a new West Palm Beach campus. This extension of the business school will offer MBA and MSF degrees (among others) to students in one of the fastest growing parts of Florida. This expansion of Owen will focus on finance, real estate and fintech. West Palm, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Miami are all part of a South Florida finance corridor and this new campus will further energize the area.
This is still in the development stages, but it is moving forward quickly. I spend a lot of time in South Florida and have been amazed by the growth post-COVID in jobs and opportunities. I am beyond excited to watch this new campus grow and have no doubt about it’s success.
You can read the full press release here.
NYC Expansion
Vanderbilt University has leased campus space in Chelsea and is in the process of getting state approval for educational programing in NYC. Details are still being ironed out, but this is exiting. Along with the expansion in West Palm, this would establish Vanderbilt in both major financial hubs going forward. It would further benefit Vanderbilt alumni working and living in the city as it will increase brand awareness and presence in the financial capital.
Read about the NYC expansion here.
I am very excited about this as well. Love Chelsea and having a extension campus in NYC and West Palm Beach is huge.
Student Stories
The Vanderbilt University MSF program does a great job with their student reviews posted on this site (7 of them have been posted so far) as well as student interviews routinely posted on the schools website. I have 4 recent ones to share with you. I’ll pull some great quotes from each, but let you read the full story yourself. Enjoy!
- Celina Sattelkau
- “The hands-on experience [of the MSF program] has broadened my understanding and sharpened what I aspire to pursue beyond my professional golf career, offering a clearer path to making a meaningful impact at the intersection of finance and environmental stewardship. The Vanderbilt MSF program has been instrumental in sculpting my future.”
- Jacob Shealy
- Networking trips to meet alumni in various cities—New York, Charlotte, and Chicago—were among Jacob’s favorite parts of the MSF experience. “I was able to spend a few days with new friends from the program,” he says, “and meet successful alumni to build my network.” Jacob credits one of those MSF alums—who co-founded a successful AI company—with mentoring him and helping him to grow his business.
- “The experience I had here broadened my horizons, both personally and professionally,” Jacob says. “I am now looking to travel the country to strengthen my network, not only in the real estate industry, but within the Vanderbilt Business community.”
- Yue Yu
- Yue credits the program’s smaller class size with allowing her to speak up in class and making it possible to continue discussions with professors during their office hours. She credits her professional coach in the Leadership Development Program with helping her improve in specific, targeted areas. In particular, she credits all the help she received from the team at the Career Management Center—starting the summer before classes began—in preparing her for interviews and refining her story.
- Joubert Klopper
- Despite the challenges, Joubert believes the program positioned him to succeed. “I am better prepared in every aspect when it comes to knowledge of finance and investment banking,” he says. “I am also more intellectually curious; I read a lot more, I follow the news, and I try to understand how to apply what I’m learning in class to what’s happening in the world at a macro level.”
Admissions
I wanted to wrap up this post with a reminder of the upcoming deadlines for this current cycles admission process.
