It has been a while since I last updated all of you on the University of Miami Masters in Finance offering. There have been a bunch of exciting changes that I wanted to bring to everyone’s attention, including the beginning of a night time option for working professionals. The school is one of the few offering this degree in Florida and the universities national recognition makes these additions great news for anyone looking to study and/or work in Florida.
Professional MSF
Miami is now offering a professional Masters in Finance option, ideally suited for working professionals. The cohort program is 16 months in length, with classes held at night every other week, on Monday evenings and all day Saturdays, on their main campus in Coral Gables. The curriculum is tailored for professionals with classes in High Performance Leadership as well as other current business topics. Bloomberg certification is also integrated into the program, as is CFA materials.
Applicants should have a minimum two years of professional experience (exception can be made). Scholarships are available for qualified applicants. The GMAT can also be waived for certain applicants.
Full Time MSF
This option has been around for a number of years now, offering students the option to study full time, both on campus as well as online. You can choose two concentrations: Investment or Corporate Finance. The program begins in August and lasts for 10 months, making this one of the quicker MSF options. Students are encouraged to have a quantitative background, but it is not a requirement. For non-business students, there is a bootcamp before classes begin to give you the foundation for the program.
I can’t find it online, but I would imagine the application requirements are similar to other programs. Transcripts, GMAT score, 2 letters of recommendation, etc. If I find some additional information, I will update this post. Also, for anyone interested in applying, the application cycle is rolling so you can apply whenever you want. I find this is helpful for people who are late to the game and are looking for programs that are more flexible for applicants applying outside of the round 1-3 system.
