The Baruch College Master in Finance program is a great option for anyone working in the city or looking for a Manhattan based specialized masters. I haven’t check in on the program in a while and thought it would be a good idea to provide a refresher on this degree option. Looks like they have revised a number of their graduate programs as the executive MSF option is no longer offered.
Overview
This is a one year program, either 30 or 39 credit hours (depending on if you need to some or all preliminary courses), STEM certified and offered a FinTech option. Students take 10.5 credit hours of required classes (Business Communication I, Econometrics: Theory and Applications I, Intermediate Corporate Finance, and Investment Analysis). After this, you can take 19.5 credit hours in electives, allowing you to focus your studies however you wish.
Students who wish to have a FinTech concentration must pick 7.5 credit hours from a list of list of CIS, LAW, and ECO/FIN classes.
Admissions
Application process is fairly standard. GMAT/GRE is option for MS students. Work experience is nice, but not required. Transcripts, resume, letters of recommendation, etc.
Below is the deadlines for the Spring 2024 program start. Looks like the first two rounds are done so you have a short window for Round 3.

For those who cannot make this Round 3 deadline, you can focus on the Fall program start with round 1 deadline in March.
Tuition is as follows:
- Estimated Total Tuition and Fees for the entire 31.5 to 42-credit program completed in 1.5 – 2 years (3 – 4 semesters at a pace of 12 credits per semester):
- NY State Resident: $17,841 – $23,861
- Non-NY State Resident: $30,159 – $40,316
There are a number of scholarships available to help bring down this cost of attendance. Make sure to inquire about these when you are considering this program.
Careers
Baruch has an absolute ton of alumni working in the city and this is going to be one of its strong suits. The MSF has also been around for a while so you will find lots of Baruch MSF graduates to connect with in addition to general alumni. There isn’t a traditional career report on the website that I could fine, but they list hiring firms and they are impressive.
