I just received some updated information regarding the USC Master in Finance program. Looks like the programs popularity was underestimated by even me! Over 1,100 applications have been received, an amazing number for a first year program. Applications are still coming in so that number continues to grow. Acceptance letters have been sent out to the majority of students, but there are still a few more coming so there is hope for those still waiting.
The class so far is fairly well split between men and women. A diverse cohort with students coming from United States, China, South Korea, Brazil, Iran, the United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong and Switzerland.
Representative universities include:
- University of Southern California
- UC Berkeley
- UCLA
- Columbia
- Cornell
- US Naval Academy
- Johns Hopkins
- Duke
- Vassar
- Cornell
- New York University
- and many more
Those are some top notch schools to pull graduate students from. A clear indication of the reputation that the University of Southern California has and how well the master in finance program has been received.
Average GMAT: 702
Average GPA: 3.5
Tomorrow is the last day to apply and for anyone considering this program I strongly recommend you finish up ASAP. The Math Boot Camp, a refresher course in calculus and statistics, runs from May 19 to May 23 with the programs official orientation on May 27.
I know it is early, but anyone considering the program for next year can apply starting in September 2014. Long way off, but plenty of time to plan for those interested. I will update everyone again as the program starts and hopefully will have a couple student reviews in around 9 months.
