The Vanderbilt University MSF program has some of the best placements I have ever seen. It is a combination of great academics, amazing brand and a dedicated career service office that simply “gets it”. This year is a continuation of this trend. I had the pleasure of meeting many of the students graduating when I visited the campus earlier in the year and knew early on how great placements would be. Great to see this report and know the names behind the offers.
2015 Vanderbilt Placement Report
The program had 100% placement within 90 days of graduation with all offers located in the United States (wow!). Top hiring companies were Deutsche Bank, Jefferies, Stephens Inc., and Deloitte with New York being the top metro.
Placement by Job Function
- Investment Banking – 42%
- Investments & Research – 29%
- Financial Consulting & Advisory – 16%
- Corporate Finance – 8%
- Real Estate – 5%
Average Salary – $70,000
Other things I found very interesting in this report is that roughly 30% of job related activities came from alumni referrals. This tells me that alumni care and have influence within their firm. 24% came from student related activities, meaning networking or finding jobs outside of OCR.
On the last page of the placement report they provide an incredible listing of the firms that Vanderbilt has placed students in over the last 5 years. All of the large banks and blue chip middle market banks are listed for investment banking. Top investment firms such as Bridgewater and Cambridge Associates, as well as equity research positions at a number of top banks. F500 placements are equally impressive and there is strong consulting placements, something that is usually uncommon from an MSF program.
If you are looking at doing a Masters in Finance program, I strong recommend you check out Vanderbilt. You won’t regret it.
