I was sent an article discussing recent changes with the Georgetown University MBA program and I thought it was worth posting as other graduate programs at Georgetown have had similar adjustments to their curriculum. It shows that the university evolves and adapts to make their material relevant to the focus on current day. I’ve highlighted the changes below and will include a link to the full article as well.
New Georgetown MBA Curriculum Emphasizes AI, Ethics, and Career Readiness
“Starting in fall 2026, full-time and part-time MBA students will enter into a revamped opening term to connect as a cohort, build early career and leadership power skills, and understand the culture and principles that define the Georgetown experience – including the school’s values-based approach to business, whole-person development, and global mindset.
As part of the opening term, students will kick off their MBA experience with a course focused on ethical principles, global mindset, and policy-driven business decision-making to ensure they have the foundational frameworks needed to thrive in the program. This course is then layered with a new immersive AI bootcamp, which uses industry-relevant tools to build future-ready data and analytics skills from the very start of the program.”
“After the opening term, students will have opportunities to tailor elements of their academic journey by selecting the timing and focus of certain core and elective courses that align with their professional interests. This structure enables earlier exposure to career-relevant concepts, supporting students as they engage in recruiting and professional exploration. Complementing the core, across all MBA formats, students also select from a broad portfolio of electives in high-growth and emerging fields such as AI, sustainability, global health, entrepreneurship and innovation, and international business.”
“Our goal is to ensure every student begins the Georgetown MBA with a clear career strategy, the confidence to tell their story, and the connections to make their professional ambitions a reality,” said Christy Murray, associate dean and managing director of the McDonough Career Center. “Through our early emphasis on career development and personalized support from our career coaches, we ensure every student lays the foundation for career success.”
