The Johns Hopkins Master in Finance program just released their 2016 placement report. This is one of the most popular programs on my site and this marks the second placement report released by the school. This report builds upon the success of last year and helps students when making their MSF decision. Finding a job is important for students entering these programs and placement reports really highlight what kind of careers someone can expect once they graduate.
- 81% of reporting students had accepted a role post graduation (at the time of the report, 56% of students were reporting)
- 89% went into Financial Services
Below is a select list of firms hiring Johns Hopkins graduates:
- Agilent Technologies
- Apple
- Bain and Company
- Bank of American
- Bank of China
- China UnionPay
- Citibank
- CITIC Securities
- Credit Suisse
- Deloitte Consulting
- Discover Financial Services
- Ernst & Young LLP
- Fannie Mae
- General Electric
- Home Depot
- Honeywell
- HSBC
- IBM Corporation
- JPMorgan
- KPMG LLP
- Morgan Stanley
- Wells Fargo
The short list above doesn’t do the school justice as the sheer number of placed students is around 280. The program includes a large number of Chinese nationals, so a lot of the firms are Chinese. But nearly every big bank, countless F500 firms and large, Washington D.C. area firms are included. I am sure this report also doesn’t include people who took a little longer to place, those who left the US and returned for Visa issues or other situations.
What is good about this is incoming students have a large and diverse alumni body to network when it comes time for them to find a job. And as the program matures, these alumni will eventually get into a position to hire program graduates themselves. Time will tell, but things look positive so far!
