Johns Hopkins Masters in Finance Update – September 2024

The Johns Hopkins Masters in Finance program continues to be incredibly popular with students and the program has a number of updates that I thought would be of interest. This university is very well known and respected around the world and you see that with the class size and stats for the program. Enjoy the update.

Class Profile

Below is the profile for the Class of 2023:

  • Average GMAT – 727
  • 55% Male / 45% Female
  • Average GPA – 3.54
  • Average Age – 23
  • Countries Represented: 7

Compared to last year things have remained relatively constant. The average GMAT dropped a little, but it is still fairly high compared to other peer programs. Gender split and average GPA were pretty much unchanged. The international percentage was not reported, but this MSF has consistently been 90% or higher international for a long time. I would expect this to continue.

Admissions

Students interested in applying for the full time MSF starting next year have time to get their package together for the first round. The cycle is just kicking off so anyone interested has plenty of time.

Application requirements for this program are pretty standard and have not changed since I last wrote about it. GMAT/GRE is optional for US Citizens and permanent residents. International applicants still need to take it though.

Tuition for the full time program is currently $88,000. This is broken up over 2 or 3 semesters, depending on if you do the 12 month or 15 month option.

Career Information

The Johns Hopkins Masters in Finance program has a career section and they include some salary data as well as a list of who is hiring JHU graduates. I don’t know if this data is only for one year, the most recent year or a compilation of a number of years. Either way, it is directionally helpful and does give you an idea of where alumni have gone to work.

  • Northeast – $80,188
  • Mid-Atlantic – $92,886
  • South – $120,467
  • West – $76,929

Students went into a variety of industries, much more diverse than you usually see from MSF programs. Accounting, Consulting, Healthcare, Media, Government, etc. Very granular. Hiring firms included Amazon, AT&T, E&Y, Geico, Johnson & johnson, JPMorgan, Proctor & Gamble, United Nations, Department of Defense, and Wells Fargo. Lots of big name firms and government roles, which makes sense considering the location of the DC campus.

Online Information Sessions

There are a number of online information sessions that anyone who is interested in the program can sign up for and attend. I always encourage this as it expresses interest in the program and also gives you access to the admissions team to ask whatever question you might have.

Carey Business School Live Webinars

That is the update for now. Program continues to be successful and build a class with strong academic results. Next time I am in DC I will try and check out their new campus as well.
