Lehigh University Masters in Financial Engineering Update – November 2021

The Lehigh University Masters in Financial Engineering program is going on over 15 years of being in existence and I wanted to provide everyone an update on the program. Lehigh has done an incredible job with their various specialized masters program and the MFE degree they offer is a great option for anyone considering a financial engineering focused masters. I will try and get some updated student reviews as well as I think the two I posted last year we well received.

Class Profile

The university provides a good overview of the current class and I always try and post them as I think they are incredibly helpful for those considering the program in their effort to gauge potential competitiveness.

  • Average GMAT – 668

  • Average GPA – 3.36

Employment

Lehigh provides a sample list of hiring companies over the life of the program. They have a lot of great companies and I will try and find out what time period this encompasses as well as some additional color.

Admissions

We are gearing up for the upcoming application cycle so anyone interested in the program is in luck as they have time to prepare and apply for the first round. Below is the schedule for applications as well as scholarship deadlines.

Spring

  • December 1*

*International applicants currently residing in their home country and requiring a new visa should submit a complete application no later than 11/15 to allow for visa processing. International applicants already in the US on an F1 visa can submit a complete application by the 12/1 deadline for consideration for the Spring term.

Fall

  • Early Decision: December 1
  • Round 2: February 1*
  • Final: June 1

*Applicants should apply by Round 2 to be considered for scholarship

The application process is fairly standard. Essays, resume, transcripts, two letters of recommendation as well a video submission and english proficiency for international students. GMAT or GRE is optional if you meet the following criteria:

The GMAT or GRE test score submission is Optional* for MS in Financial Engineering (MFE) applicants who have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or better and meet the following criteria:

  • Have achieved a transcript documented letter grade of B or better in TWO (2) or more quantitative undergraduate courses. Undergraduate courses considered include, calculus, linear algebra, statistics, and data analytics. Students must submit course descriptions/syllabi with their application for such coursework to be considered.
