Southern Methodist University Masters in Management

The Southern Methodist University Masters in Management program has recently been brought to my attention and I think it might interest all of you out there looking for a broader, business focused graduate degree. Lasting two semesters, the SMU MS in Management allows students to get their masters in under a year. The program is 30 credits long, with 20 required classes and 10 electives. This allows students the ability to focus their education in areas that interest them.

Students have access to the Cox Mentoring Program which pairs students up with alumni mentors to help them in their career development. This, combined with the career center and alumni network, should be extremely helpful when it comes to finding a job upon graduation. There was a mentorship program when I did my masters and I found it incredibly helpful as did most of my classmates.

Additionally, if you decide to go back to SMU for your MBA, you can shorten the degree because of your MS in Management. This is a unique offering and pretty cool. Dallas is a great city to work and live in and if your career finds you staying in Dallas post graduation, it is nice to know that you are essentially half way towards an MBA if you decide to go back.

I’ll see what else I can find out on the program. I’m sure there are some placement information out there or maybe I can get a recent student review. Keep checking back for these other information.
