The University of Michigan Master of Management program is one of the newer specialized masters and they have been performing incredibly well. The website is full of information and placements are always very strong. I was on their site the other day and noticed a bunch of updates so I thought it was time for a new post on this great MiM degree.
Class Profile
- Class Size – 121
- Average GPA – 3.65
- Male / Female – 43% / 57%
- International – 7%
This is the second year where this program has been majority female which is wonderful to see, yet uncommon. GPA and class size have stayed consistent. In looking at what students studied for an undergraduate major, only 12% of the class come from an economics background so 88% of the class is non-business. Most MiM programs prevent business majors from applying as it would be redundant so if you didn’t study a business major this is a perfect program for you.
Careers
Michigan does a great jobs with employment and career reporting. Below is information on the class of 2024:
- 91% received job offers within 6 months of graduation
- $68,000 Median Starting Salary
- 89 Companies hired graduates from the class of 2024
These stats are slightly off the 2022 figures when I last posted about careers, but they are still outstanding for a masters in management program. The list of hiring firms includes all the top names in corporate finance, banking and consulting and with Michigan’s brand and reputation you should be able to get your foot in the door anywhere you’d like to work.
Admissions
The application window for this upcoming class has closed, but this gives you plenty of time to prepare for the first round which generally opens in January every year.
Tuition for this program is currently $53,615 for Michigan residents and $58,615 for non-residents. This is fairly reasonable and the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition isn’t that much, especially when compared to other state schools.
The application is pretty standard and anyone with a 3.3GPA or above can waive the GMAT/GRE.

That is the update for now. This is a well run and top branded MiM degree. Anyone looking for a specialized masters in management should definitely check this one out. Placements are strong and the cost is reasonable. Plus you have the Michigan network which is immense.
