University of Southern California MSF Update – August 2024

Was checking the University of Southern California MSF and the program has updated their career information as well as a number of other things. This is one of the best and most popular MSF program in the country so well worth an update. Results continue to impress.

2022 Employment Report

The class of 2022 had 99 students in the class 96.3% of those seeking employment found a position within 6 months of graduation. Great results for a larger MSF cohort. The average base salary with $87,888 which is also outstanding. Compared to my last post where I featured the 2021 class, the salary increase jumped over $8,000 while the percentage of students getting hired within 6 months held constant.

Much like last year, placements were focused on the West Coast, and all throughout every major California city. You also had students go to work in NYC and Washington DC in addition to a few international cities. Top function was investment banking and investment management, but students also found roles in consulting, business/data analytics, real estate and other positions.

The list of hiring firms spans the top companies across a number of industries. A few names that jumped out to me include AllianceBernstein, Bain & Co., BCG, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank,  Goldman Sachs, Guggenheim Partners, McKinsey & Company, PayPal, PIMCO, Raymond James, Tesla, Wells Fargo, Houlihan Lokey, and JPMorgan Chase.

Admissions

Below are the upcoming application deadlines. You still have plenty of time for round one which is the best round when it comes to asking for scholarships or tuition help.

Deadline
Round 1 November 1, 2024
Round 2 January 15, 2025
Round 3 March 1, 2025
Round 4 April 15, 2025

Round 1 and 2: Priority Consideration for scholarships

Tuition changes, but from the website the current per credit cost is $2,307 for Business Graduate classes (500 level and above). This is a 36 credit hour MSF program. That would put tuition around $83,000.

This is a a well established, STEM program with a history now of great placements. Over the last two years, average salaries have increased by over $13,000. Tuition is not cheap, but I think it reflects the value this program provides. Definitely a program to aspire to and one I will work hard to keep everyone up to date on.
