It has been a while since I last posted about the University of Virginia Masters in Commerce program. There have been a number of updates, including a phenomenal ranking in the 2019 Economist Masters in Management ranking. This program is always one that I am asked about so I definitely want to update all of you on the great things going on with the program.
The Economist 2019 Masters in Management Ranking
For years US masters programs have been overshadowed in the few rankings available by their European cousins. Well this is no longer the case as US programs have caught up tremendously. For the 2019 ranking of masters in management programs by The Economics, the University of Virginia is ranking number one in the United States and number 6 in the world. The program is included in the “B” band, along with well known European programs such as the University of Warwick and EDHEC.
The criteria to be admitted in the ranking is pretty rigors. As a long time Economist reader, I respect just about everything they do. This is great publicity for UVA and really shows how these US programs have grown in prominence. I personally would expect to see US programs continue to increase in rankings being led by the University of Virginia.
You can read about the full list of criteria to be admitted as well as how the various factors are weighted in order to come up with the ranking here.
UVA Summer Mixers
The MS in Commerce program is hitting the road and looking to meet with interested students in a number of US cities. I’ve attended a number of similar events for a number of different programs and they are always a great way to connect with admissions staff and learn about the program. Some things are better done in person and this is one of them. If you have time and can attend one of these events in person, I strongly recommend it.
A number of events have already passed, but here are the ones upcoming:
- July 25-26th – Baltimore, MD
- July 29-30th – Miami, FL
- July 31st – Charlottesville, VA
- August 4th – Dallas, TX
- August 5th – Austin, TX
- August 5-6th – Raleigh, NC
You can sign up and track if any other events are listed on the UVA Summer Mixer site.
