Just received another great perspective on the Villanova University MSF program, this time from a recent graduate and international student. Very helpful for anyone considering the program and is a non-US citizen. Enjoy!
An International Student’s Experience in the Villanova School of Business – Master of Science in Finance (MSF)
Answers provided by Manav Kewlani, MSF ‘26, an international MSF student from Ahmedabad, India
What has your experience been like as an international student at Villanova? In the United States for the first time?
- As an international student, one of the first thoughts you have is how you’ll fit in. At VSB, that question goes away very quickly. The VSB community is welcoming, inclusive, and genuinely supportive. Whether it’s classmates, faculty, or alumni, these members of VSB are invested in your growth.
- Coming to the U.S. for the first time, I found people to be kind, approachable, and collaborative. Over time, Villanova has started to feel like home, which speaks volumes about the environment here.
What is Philadelphia/Villanova like?
- Villanova is beautiful and safe, which makes it great for focusing on academics. Nearby areas, such as Bryn Mawr, Ardmore, and King of Prussia, are convenient and easy to navigate.
- At the same time, Philadelphia is close by, offering a great mix of professional opportunities, culture, and city life. It’s a strong balance overall.
What resources are available on campus for international students?
- The support system and alumni network at VSB are among its biggest strengths. The International Student Office is extremely helpful with visas, documentation, and adjusting to life in the U.S.
- Within the Villanova School of Business, Shea McCormick, Betty Wilson, and the broader team are very supportive and regularly organize events and happy hours that keep students engaged and connected.
- The Career Center and Office of Professional Development, especially Lauren Knoll and Rita DiCarlo, provided consistent guidance from day one on resumes, networking, and career preparation.
- The Taleghani Family Graduate Student Lounge in Vasey Hall and other student spaces help build a strong sense of community, and faculty and peers are approachable and supportive throughout the experience.
Any helpful tips or information for a prospective international student?
- Take initiative and communicate. Ask questions early and often; faculty, staff, and alumni at VSB are always willing to help.
- Stay organized with your documentation from the beginning and be mindful of work and visa guidelines.
- Most importantly, stay open to new experiences. Stepping out of your comfort zone is where you’ll grow the most.
