University of Miami Masters in Finance Program

The University of Miami Masters in Finance Program is a brand new entrant to the MSF space. I was extremely excited to see this announced as the University of Florida recently stopped admitting non-UF undergraduates into their Masters of Finance program. With this well known avenue closed, those students interested in studying at a university in Florida had limited options.

The MSF at Miami is a 10 month program currently accepting applications for their 1st year program, starting this Fall. All academic backgrounds will be considered so this isn’t just a program for business students. There will be a 2-week Finance Boot Camp before the program begins to ensure that everyone is up to speed when classes start.

Students will be able to choose 3 specializations with the Masters in Finance program: Investment Management, International Finance, and Corporate Finance. There will also be classes and seminars that emphasize soft skills. The goal of this program is to produce well rounded graduates who can transition easily into the professional world and this means knowing more than just quantitative knowledge.

Miami is targeting a class size of around 30-40 students, meaning you will be to form close bonds with your classmates and professors. They are also looking for a diverse student body, another positive as you will be able to learn from your fellow MSF students.

Students will be a short drive from the city of Miami, something that will help when it comes to networking, interning and finding a job. The university has a large and passionate alumni base, something I consider a strong suit for any program.

As more information becomes available I will update this topic. Keep checking back and hopefully I will have more to report soon.
