University of Texas MSF Update – August 2023

I was checking out the University of Texas MSF programs website today and noticed some updates that I thought were important. This is one of the best programs in the country so I make it a focus to keep things fresh. Enjoy the update and make sure you keep checking back for more!

Class of 2023 Profile

  • Class Size – 59 Students
  • Male / Female – 64% / 36%
  • Average GMAT – 644
  • Average GRE – 314

Students came from a variety of undergraduate majors as well. Economics lead the way (32%), but Humanities, Mathematics/Science and Engineering almost a third of the class (27% total).

This is a good sized class and it is great to see such a high number of females pursing this degree. A good number of students came from outside of Texas as well. All and all, I am impressed with this profile (as always).

GMAT/GRE Optional

Starting with the upcoming application cycle, UT will allow students to submit their application for the program without taking either test. Applicants will have the option to take the test if they feel it will help them, but you will not be required to. The application process is holistic and admissions will look at your full package to consider eligibility. You can read the full announcement here.

This is exciting news and something I have been seeing from more and more programs. I’ve take the GMAT twice in my life and always felt like being forced to take it was unfair. Excludes a lot of applicants that might have issues with test taking as well. Great to see UT being so inclusive.

Admissions – Class of 2025

The admissions cycle is ramping up for the UT MSF program. Those who are interested in applying, check out the below dates.

The Class of 2025 application will open August 28, 2023!

Round 1: October 11, 2023
Round 2: January 10, 2024 (final international deadline)
Round 3: March 6, 2024
Round 4: May 1, 2024 (final U.S. deadline)

There are a number of information sessions coming up as well. These are always incredibly helpful and show the admissions team that you are interested an informed in the program. You can find the full list of events here.

I am keeping an eye out for the new placement statistics that should be coming out soon. I am sure they will be great. Once I see them I will make a post on it as they are always highly anticipated.
