Georgetown University Masters in Global Real Assets

I just got an email about a new program being launched, the Georgetown University Masters in Global Real Assets, and wanted to get something posted on it as this should be of interest for a number of you seeking a specialized masters program. This degree is for someone seeking to understand and learn about real estate, infrastructure and Environmental, Society and Governance (“ESG”) topics. Georgetown has been introducing a number of tailored speciality masters recently and this one looks quite interesting. More information on it below.

Overview

This is a 12-month long graduate degree starting in August 2023. The program is new and currently recruiting for its inaugural class. From the schools website, the the MS in Global Real Assets “curriculum focuses on innovation and creativity in tackling challenges in real assets while observing the evolving intersection of real estate, infrastructure, and ESG first hand through global travel”.

Academics are built around these topics and includes classes in Finance for Sustainability Management, Real Estate Private Equity, ESG Investing, Private Debt, Infrastructure Finance, Digital Infrastructure, and other topics to prepare graduates for this growing and evolving industry.

There is an opening residency to kick things off and a capstone project to end this. The curriculum is perfectly tailored to the goals of this degree and anyone who is interested in a career in a variety of areas focusing on financing and development that incorporates ESG will find this degree interesting.

Admissions

The application process for this program is more than just quantitative scores. They make a point to mention that it is holistic. Applicants need to submit the standard items – resume, essays, personal recommendations, and transcripts. There are a number of optional items that you can choose to submit to help improve or augment your standard materials. This program is going to focus on the complete student and I would suspect that you should be able to clearly tie your goals and/or experience with the materials this program will cover.

With the program starting in August, there is still plenty of time to get things in order for the first round deadline in February. Below are the deadlines to help guide you in your time allocation:
