Georgetown University Masters in Management Program

The Georgetown University Masters in Management program has just been announced, making this the first new MiM program that I know of in the last couple of years. It is pretty exciting that Georgetown is starting this program as they have done great things with their Masters in Finance program over the years. I have no doubt this will be of great interest to all of you considering a specialized masters and Georgetown will surely do a good job with running and building out this degree program. Details on this new program are below.

Program Overview

The program is 11 months long and a cohort setup. I think this is great as you can really bond with your fellow classmates over the course of a year. All the classes will take place on campus, with a group international experience in the spring. Classes will also be designed to allow students the ability to intern with local firms (from the looks of the initial class calendar, most Fridays will be off).

The list of classes students will take focuses on managerial skills, accounting, quantitative skills for business, etc. Best way I could describe it would be a very similar to MBA classes. The classes look very interesting and relevant for todays world (financial markets, global business, law for managers). Students will leave this program with a strong foundation for a career in any number of fields.

Admissions

Tuition for the program is $55,000. This is fairly reasonable when compared to the universe of other specialized masters programs. Students must have a bachelors degree with 0-3 years works experience. Those with significant work experience should apply to the Georgetown MBA program.

Applicants will be required to submit their transcripts, resume, personal statement, letters of recommendation, proof of english proficiency (for international students)  as well as GMAT/GRE results. A couple things for interested students to consider:

  • For July 2019 admissions, GMAT and GRE scores are waived for Georgetown University undergraduates with a 3.2 GPA or above, as well as for non-Georgetown University undergraduates with a 3.5 GPA or above.
  • Application fee waived for Georgetown University undergraduates and alumni.

For students with a strong GPA, this is a great opportunity to save money and time and avoid taking the GMAT/GRE.

Application Deadlines are as follows (first two have already passed):

  • April 1 (recommended deadline for international students)
  • May 1
  • June 1

I have reached out to the people who are running this program to see if I can learn more about it, but the information I posted above should give everyone a good idea of the new program and what it is all about. So far I am very pleased and think it will be a great option for anyone looking for a specialized masters. Check back soon for additional information!

    • They do not. It looks positively when applying, but not necessary. Worth mentioning that there will be more mid-career students in this program than others.
