Tulane University MSF in China

Tulane University has recently announced that they are partnering with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to start an internationally focused masters in finance program. This is a great addition to their current MSF portfolio, with full time classes in New Orleans and part time classes in Houston.

The Tulane-CASS Professional MFIN is aimed at working professionals in Beijing and will last 18 months. Professors from Tulane will travel to China in the summer to teach four classes and once completed, students will travel to Tulane University’s main campus for 2 classes during the winter period. The students will then return to Beijing to complete the program.

This program is unique in the fact that it is approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Only a few programs can attest to this and since this program is aimed at Chinese professionals, it should carry weight when students re-enter the work force in China.

I know many programs are offering programs like these for international students. I think it is great since many international students return to this home countries to work. Having a program that is partnering with top universities within a local environment will help to ensure placements and the education remain top notch.

I’ll email the people at Tulane to see if I can find out more about the program. It mentions a class size of 25 for the first year so I think they are trying to keep this small. We’ll see as time goes on. Once I know more I will let everyone know.

Oh, and for those interested in the US based program, it looks like there is now an option to extend the duration of the program. Great news for international students trying to maximize their student visa.
