The Ohio State University SMF has a bunch of new updates that I wanted to bring to everyones attention. This program has been around for a while now and has been consistently placing students in big companies and banks. I’ve been posting about the OSU MSF for well over a decade now and have been fortunate enough to know quite a few graduates.
2025 Incoming Class
The Ohio State Class Profile is always detailed and I will provide some comments as well as compare and contrast from the 2024 profile.
- Class Size – 42 students
- GMAT Score Average – 610
- 80% Range – 510 – 700
- GRE Composite – 310
- 80% Range – 285 – 320
- GPA Average – 3.55
- 80% Range – 3.16 – 3.93
- International – 39%
- % with work experience <1 year – 66%
This incoming class boasts 21 different undergraduate institutions and a good blend of pre and post experienced graduates. Compared to the previous class, this one is slightly larger (6 more students) and slightly less international (47% vs 39%). All in all, the class profile remains consistent.
Admissions
The current application window is closed, but it will open up in December of this year. This will give you plenty of time to get your recommendations and application in order.
Tuition is split between in-state and out-of-state
- Ohio Resident – $47,047
- Out of State – $68,047
The program advertises merit based aid as well as other forms of scholarships. Both myself and OSU encourage you to apply early as this aid is often given on a first come, first serve basis. If nothing else, applying early gives you time to compare what different schools are offering and lets you plan financially for the cost of attending.
2025 Career Outcomes
The OSU SMF puts together a nice info graphic in placements. Compared to the last time I posted (2023) it looks like starting salaries have increased and placement percentages have remained consistent. This program has been around for a while now and will have a solid alumni base who have been moving up the chain over time. Should make for good networking.

It looks like the Ohio State University SMF continues to provide students with strong placements and an increasing starting salary. I like that their class profile has remained largely consistent as well. Wish the placements by industry were more broken out like they were historically, but half the class going into sought after financial industries is a positive. This remains one of the top MSF’s in the country that students consider.
