University of Chicago Masters in Management

The University of Chicago Masters in Management program is a brand new specialized masters starting this year. It is being offered by the Chicago Booth School of Business and targeting recent college graduates who studied liberal arts or a STEM background. This is exciting news as the University of Chicago is one of the best universities in the country and it is great to see more schools providing a specialized graduate degree option.

Overview

This is a brand new 30 credit hour program being offered by the Booth School of Business. Taking 10 months to complete and STEM designated, the Chicago Masters in Management is designed to provide recently graduates who comes from a non-business background with a graduate degree in management and business.

You start the program in a cohort program, taking 5 core classes (Data Analytics, Financial Accounting, Microeconomics, Managerial Decision Modeling, and Behavioral Foundations of Management). Students then pick one of 5 areas of specialization (Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing and Strategic Management). Each of these specializations will have 5 classes along with one elective. There will also be professional development and career activities throughout the program.

Admissions

College graduates with a non-business major, who will have finished their undergraduate degree between May 2022 and August 2024, are eligible to apply. The admissions requirements are standard – Application, GMAT/GRE, Transcripts, Recommendations and Essays. There is a GMAT/GRE waiver for students who have taken a minimum of three quantitative/STEM classes and have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or greater on a 4.0 scale (international students as well).

Interviews will be on an invite only basis and held virtually.

Application Deadlines

The application for the inaugural Master in Management class opened this fall, and classes will begin in fall 2024.

Tuition

While tuition will be made available in April of 2024. The estimated tuition will be between $65,000–$67,000. There will be merit scholarships available and students will be automatically considered when applying.

This is going to be an amazing program and I am sure it will be of interest to anyone looking at a specialized masters. The tuition looks to be very affordable when compared to similar programs and the Booth brand is huge. Excited to watch this MiM develop and grow!
